You don't see this kind of score/price combination very often. I'm not surprised to see it on a wine from Roussillon, which I think is an area responsible for some of the best red wine values from France, and possibly the world, these days. That combined with an importer I really like who focuses on southern France has me really eager to try this wine. We're getting the last 9 cases in the state, so I won't be surprised if it's gone quickly.
Here's the Wine Advocate review:
"Penya's 2013 Côtes Catalanes is a beauty, and the finest vintage of this cuvee I've tasted. Giving up lots of sweet black raspberry, spring flowers and spice, this medium to full-bodied effort has sweet fruit, a rounded, supple texture and good acidity. It's a knockout bottle of wine to buy by the case as a house red for drinking over the coming couple of years."
Here's the wine.
