I'm very happy to be offering this one. If you've been following the wine media over the past few years, you know that Portuguese table wines (meaning not fortified such as Port and Madeira or sparkling) are better than ever. It's true. The Douro Valley in particular has been really excelling with red wines made from some of the same grapes that go into Port. As many do, this particular wine always features a great combination of concentrated, ripe fruit and earthy/savory/mineral, Old World sensibility. Because it includes both of those characteristics, I have seen it appeal to a very wide audience. You've heard this from me before, but I'll point out again here that we've been carrying this wine at the regular price for several vintages, and we thought it was a great buy at that. With this discounted price, it's a tremendous value that I know many of you will love. Plus, it might be a little off the beaten path for some of you, which is always nice.
Here's a review from Wine Spectator:
"Powerful, with concentrated slate and mineral notes to the dark currant, dried berry and raspberry ganache flavors. Very lithe midpalate, presenting flint and black olive hints on the long, focused finish" 91 points
