Back by popular demand! This class will cover some of the basics that any wine drinker would want to know in order to be an informed consumer. Whether you are just getting into wine or have been drinking wine for years but are looking for a broader foundation upon which to build your knowledge base, you will learn a lot of great information and most importantly have fun with this (re)introduction to the wide, often intimidating world of wine. The main focus will be learning to describe your preferences with confidence to retailers, sommeliers, and friends. We'll also discuss deciphering those foreign labels, deciding what to serve or order for that special party or dinner, and feeling comfortable picking something off the shelf if you happen to be out of the area and unable to talk to the helpful staff at D&L. Beyond that, we will discuss current trends, professional critics and the 100-point scale, and some of the major categories from all over the world. We will encourage you to ask whatever questions you might have so that we can cover material that interests you. Most importantly, we'll have fun and drink some wine in an educational yet informal, laid back group setting. You'll have the chance to learn a thing or two to impress your friends, and hopefully discover some new favorite wines in the process. So please, come join me, Doug Schulman, CWE (Certified Wine Educator) for a couple of hours of entertaining, informative tasting and discussion.
